The need for a new Chillicothe Police Facility was discussed early this week, but how will this facility be financed and what does it mean for my taxes? Chillicothe City Administrator Roze Frampton answered those questions. The cost of a new police facility could be as high as $7.9 million dollars. Frampton broke that down.
$6.3 million for design and construction.
She explained the remaining part of the estimate.
Including variable cost of furnishing, appliances, and an owner’s contingency.
Frampton says if the bids come in under the estimates, they could include alternates of the Sally Port, perimeter fencing, and parking canopies.
The city will pay for the project with what Frampton calls a lease obligation.
Similar to a home mortgage and paid through the capital improvement sales tax and police sales tax.
There are no plans to raise taxes on the Chillicothe residents to pay for this project.
The repayment is expected to take 25 years.
