The Livingston County Health Center is offering a “Safe Sitter” training program. Injuries are the leading cause of death in children up to age 5. “Safe Sitter” aims to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by young teen caretakers.
The Health Center is offering the program on Friday, October 25th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Health Center. This is a regularly scheduled day off school for Chillicothe R-II students.
Registration is required for the course, as attendance is limited. There is a $20 fee to attend, with a deadline of Tuesday, October 22nd for registration. Call 660-646-5506.
This program provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques to young teens in grades 6-8 who are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting, so they are equipped with the skills and confidence to act in an emergency.
Students who graduate from a Safe Sitter course receive a completion card demonstrating they know how to use their skills in situations they encounter. A graduation program will be held at the conclusion of class.
