Chillicothe – Six Month Budget Review

A six-month budget review for the City of Chillicothe was held Wednesday at City Hall.  The Auditor says the City is on track and the budget numbers look good going into the second half of the fiscal year.  The department heads met with city officials and discussed projects that have been completed to this point of the fiscal year.

The Street Department completed several asphalt overlays, tube replacements, sealing of several parking lots, prepped the Danner Park lot for an overlay and did the striping when that was complete.  Much of their major work is complete and they are prepared for the winter months.

The parks department completed its ARPA-funded projects, including the Danner Park Playground, Tennis Courts, and parking lot.  Items from their budget include the Shafer Park Infield, Chilli Bay Slides, Simpson Park trail lights, Danner Park Ball Field Light repairs, and Shafer Park perimeter fencing.

The Fire Department is dealing with three on long-term medical leave, equipment problems, and ambulance call volume.

The Police Department is dealing with manpower issues, but expects to hire three new academy graduates in December and will be testing for a detective position.  Their new vehicles are arriving and will be outfitted for service soon.
