The Missouri State Auditor’s Office has completed the audit of Linn County’s Finances for the 2023 Fiscal Year. The audit showed deficiencies in the Public Administrator’s financial records and weakness in internal control. Errors were found in amounts on receipts and accidentally deleted financial data. The issues resulted in an understatement in bank statements and disbursements.
The County agreed with the findings and corrected the necessary reports to accurately reflect the accounts with the bank statements.
The county also does not have a formal investment policy. A recommendation was part of the audit report to adopt a formal policy for investments.
