The installation of a new AWOS system at the Chillicothe Airport is ready to move into the next stage as the City of Chillicothe approved the Aviation Consultant Agreement with H.W. Lochner. The new AWOS or Automated Weather Observing System will replace an aging system that is outdated. The $650,000 project will require $65,000 from the city, with the remainder through the MoDOT Aviation program.
Once installed, the system will allow the pilots to access the required weather information online or through their aircraft, if it is equipped to receive the data.
H.W. Lochner is providing the required engineering services on the project.
