A $15,000 grant from the Missouri Humanities Council has been awarded to the Grand River Historical Society & Museum. The grant is for their project, “Our History: Exhibits From the Archives.”
The museum is sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund. Curator Dustin Rennells says the project is a fourfold ramp-up toward AMERICA250, or our nation’s semi-quincentennial celebration during the summer of 2026.
Rennels described some of the plans…
Audio PlayerRotating exhibits featuring pieces of history.
He says there are plans for digital archiving of items in storage.
Audio PlayerMore than 100,000 items to scan and preserve.
Rennels says there will be an additional special focus on our extensive Black history memorabilia.
He says this will begin as soon as they receive the grant funds.
