A new Livestock Specialist for the MU Extension offices in Ray, Saline, Livingston, Chariton, Carroll, and Lafayette counties. Shelby Jenkins will provide research-based recommendations to assist livestock producers in areas that include grazing management, feeding strategies, and reproductive efficiency.
Jenkins is a native of Carroll County, growing up on a diversified row crop and beef cattle operation. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences with a minor in Plant Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2022, followed by a Master of Science in Animal Science with a specialization in Ruminant Nutrition from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2024.
Jenkins says she is most excited about building relationships with producers and developing meaningful educational programming to support their success. She also looks forward to engaging with youth through 4-H and FFA programs and working collaboratively with local organizations to expand agricultural outreach.
