The Route PP Bridge over East Medicine Creek in Sullivan County is CLOSED. The Missouri Department of Transportation announced the bridge was closed after a regularly scheduled inspection revealed critical deterioration to the structure. The East Medicine Creek Bridge was built in 1955 and carries approximately 78 vehicles a day.
Northwest District Bridge Engineer Scott Stephens says “The safety of the traveling public and our workers remains our number one priority, and the closure of the bridge while our inspectors investigate a possible timeline for repair ensures that motorists are not at risk.”
MoDOT had not determine how long the bridge will be closed or what repairs are needed, and that information will not be known until the assessment is complete.
During the closure, MoDOT say drivers may use Route 139, Highway 6 and Route W to travel around the closure.
