Lady Hornets Control Contest At Maryville From Start To Finish

Coach Darren Smith could not have asked for a better start from his team than what was put on display Thursday night from the Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team. In their regular season finale against MEC opponent Maryville, the Lady Hornets scored the first 18 points of the game, the initial 7 all from senior, Liz Oliver. The early onslaught helped Chillicothe open up a 25-6 lead through one quarter.

 

The Lady Hornets exceptional play carried over into the 2nd quarter, extending the lead out to 27 by halftime. Liz Oliver and Lyla Beetsma were both into double figures by halftime. With the game in hand, Chillicothe coasted to the finish line winning comfortably 59-33. Beetsma scored a game high 20 points while Oliver added 17 including three triples.

 

The regular season comes to an end for the Lady Hornets with a 19-6 record, 5-2 in the MEC. Chillicothe as the #3 seed in the Class 4 District 16 tournament will host #6 Cameron on Tuesday night in the first round.
