City Council Reviews $23 Million 2025/26 Budget

The City of Chillicothe’s proposed budget for the 2025/26 fiscal year was discussed in a workshop session Monday at the Chillicothe Fire Department.

City Auditor Allison Jefferies presented the budget that included $21,611,949 in revenue and $23,379,921 in expenditures.  The shortfall of $1,767,972 would come from the city’s reserves.

That would leave the City of Chillicothe with $11,372,862 in reserve funding at the end of the 2025/26 fiscal year.

A Cost of Living Adjustment of 2.5% is proposed for City employees, with adjustments for some employees to bring their pay up to competitive levels for the position.

The Council reviewed the budget figures and heard from the department heads, discussing projects and purchases.

Following the meeting, the City Auditor and City Administrator will review the city council’s recommendations and revise the budget that will be presented to the council for approval on March 31st.
