Frances L. Dominique, age 95, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Frances was born the daughter of Guy F. and Opal (Cooper) Summerville on August 6, 1929 at home in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a 1947 graduate of Chillicothe High School. On May 22, 1948, she married Leroy Dominique. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2014.
Frances worked outside the home at the Boss Glove Factory, Chillicothe, Missouri early on, but became a house wife after she and Leroy started  having children. She enjoyed gardening. Her vegetable garden was huge and she canned most of what she harvested. Frances was also know for being a wonderful baker and cook. She was famous for her gooseberry, blackberry and strawberry pies.  One of her favorite quotes was, “We will eat anything that doesn’t eat us first. ” Frances also was a seamstress. She made many items including a wedding dress for her daughter-in- law. Frances and Leroy enjoyed pitching horse shoes together. They were instrumental in forming the Chillicothe Horse Shoe League that met at the Clay Street Park. They attended tournaments every weekend and belonged to several different leagues. Frances won the World Championship of Horse Shoe Pitching in Ohio.
They also enjoyed going camping and to the lake.
Frances is survived by three sons, Joe Dominique and wife, Pat, of Meadville, Missouri, Steve Dominique and wife, Belinda, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Scott Dominique and wife, Lisa, of Chillicothe, Missouri, and daughter-in-law Janice Dominique of Lake Ozark, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Hinkebein and husband, Chris, of Kansas City, Missouri, Van Dominique and wife, Stephanie, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Bryan Dominique and wife, Cindy, of Columbia, Missouri, Megan Dominique of Overland Park, Kansas, Hannah Dominique of Chillicothe, Missouri, Bryce Dominique of Chillicothe, Missouri, Rusty Dominique and wife, Julie, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Aaron Dominique and wife, Angie, of Milan, Illinois, and Stephanie Feldman, and husband, Derek,  of Centerview, Missouri; fourteen great grandchildren, Macey and Marin Hinkebein, Justin and Ryan Dominique, Avery Rizzo, Aubren and Aliza Dominique, Christian Dominique, Baylee Dominique, Sadie Dominique, Destanie Ward, Lindsey Luna and Sandra and Theodore Feldman; eight great-great grandchildren and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy, her son, Gary, a brother, Gene Summerville and twin great-great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chilllicothe, Missouri  on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11;00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 10;00 am, one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
