The Chillicothe Hornets baseball team defeated Trenton handily on Wednesday. The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Chillicothe prevented the Bulldogs from scoring a single run in route to the 8-0 victory.
Offensively it was a big night for Dane Ireland and Koby Wagers who both had multiple hits and RBIs while Jack Marshall, Noah Rinehart and Oliver Perry each scored at least twice in the win.
The real story was the defensive masterclass, the Hornets pitchers allowed just two hits total in the shutout and the fielders recorded zero errors. Howie Donoho and Koby Wagers each had seven strikeouts as Chillicothe cruised on the day.
Chillicothe moves to 16-8 on the season, their 16th win surpasses the 2017 team for the most wins in a season in the last 15 years.
