A major crash on US 65, south of the Grand River Bridge, at LIV 300, resulted in multiple injuries. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred about 9:10 am and involved three vehicles with five injured, ranging from Moderate to serious injuries.
The report indicates two vehicles were stopped for construction, and a 51-year-old Chillicothe woman failed to yield and ran into the vehicle driven by a Kentucky woman. The drivers were not injured, but a 26-year-old Chillicothe woman, a passenger, had serious injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s on the Plaza for treatment.
From the vehicle that was struck, an infant and a one-year-old child both had serious injuries and were flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Two other passengers from Kentucky were injured and were not wearing safety belts. A 30-year-old man had moderate injuries and was treated at Hedrick Medical Center. The other, age unknown, had serious injuries; she was flown to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
Both lanes of US 65 were closed for nearly two hours while the emergency crews worked the accident.
