WarDogs Roll Mudcats in Exhibition

In their annual exhibition game, the United States Military WarDogs stole 16 bases in a 16-9 victory over the Chillicothe Mudcats on Tuesday night.

The WarDogs walked three times in their first four at-bats of the game, which helped them to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Chillicothe scored a single run in three of the first four innings, and trailed 6-3 going into the fifth.

With a position player on the mound for the Mudcats, the WarDogs scored six runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Chillicothe utilized a total of four position players on the mound in the loss. Derin Doucet, Peyton Becker, Aidan Baerenklau, and Ziah Chang combined to throw 7.1 innings. Together, they surrendered 11 runs.

The Mudcats offense got going in the ninth, but it was too late. They scored three times in the final inning to reach a more respectable final score.

It was the second year in a row that the WarDogs defeated the Mudcats, as they also won last season’s installment 15-8.

On Wednesday, Chillicothe returns their attention to league play as they visit the Jefferson City Renegades. The Mudcats trail the season series 2-1.
