Mudcats Slow Start Leads to Loss Against A’s

The Chillicothe Mudcats were hosting the Clarinda A’s in a battle for 2nd place in the MINK League standings on Saturday night. The Mudcats gave up three runs in the 4th inning to break the scoreless deadlock, as the A’s went ahead after Mudcats starting pitcher Nick Neighbours was taken for a double. The Mudcats compounded that with a pair of errors resulting in a 3-0 Clarinda lead. Koby Linder came on in relief and allowed just one more run the rest of the way.

Trailing 4-0 in the 8th the Mudcats got runs from Peyton Becker and Jordi Ventura off RBIs by Tanner Sears and John Spoto. The Mudcats valiant effort came up short, unable to add any additional runs in the 9th, Clarinda took the win 4-2.

Chillicothe is now 16-11 in the league, 3rd place overall, while Clarinda is now 18-11 trailing only St. Joseph in the MINK standings.
