Centralia Give Lady Hornets First Loss Of The Season

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets entered Friday nights contest 7-0 on the season but were facing an undefeated 6-0 Centralia team. Both squads entered the contest ranked top 5 in the state in their respective classes.

 

Centralia was ahead 13-12 at the end of one quarter and the game remained tight throughout. The score was tied at half and going into the 4th quarter. Centralia however opened the 4th with an 11-2 run to build a 9 point lead behind Braylin Brunkhorst who finished with a game high 25 points. Coach Darren Smith and the Lady Hornets responded with 5 straight points from Lyla Beetsma who provided 20 for Chillicothe on the night. Centralia didn’t allow Chillicothe to get any closer however and the Lady Panthers knocked of Chillicothe for the first time this season by a score of 51-42.

 

The Lady Hornets now 7-1, will play Saturday at NCMC for Holiday Hoops against Waukee Northwest, the only team who beat Chillicothe in the regular season last year. Tipoff is at 5:30 in Trenton live on KCHI.
