Early Morning Fire Damages Home On Cooper Street

An early morning fire on Saturday resulted in major damage to a home on Cooper Street in Chillicothe.  Firefighters received the call to 1420 Cooper at about 5:22 am and arrived in about four minutes to find heavy smoke from the house, and everyone out of the home.

Firefighters used water to knock down the flames in the main part of the house and then worked to remove the ceiling and put out the remaining fire.  Five hundred to one thousand gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire and the crew, including additional pay-by-call firefighters, were on the scene for nearly three hours.

Total loss, including the structure and the contents, is estimated at just over $100,000.
