Chillicothe Fire Fighters were called to a downtown bank at about 1:00 pm on a report of a strange smell. The employee’s of the bank and other businesses in the building were evacuated. Fire crews responded to the scene and detected a possible gas smell and called Empire Gas. The gas company responded and found no leak.
According the Fire Chief Darrel Wright, the odor was coming from a clogged drain.
A plumber was called and they have since cleared and closed off the drain. At about 3:00 pm, the fire department began using fans to clear the odor from the building, which was expected to take an additional hour.
