Amateur Radio Field Day This Weekend

Ham radio operators across the country will be participating in an annual event this weekend.  Field Day is an opportunity for amateur radio enthusiasts to set up their radios as they would for emergency operations and make contacts with others across the country and around the world.

Locally, the North Central Missouri Amateur Radio Club will set up at Crowder State Park in Trenton, near the Beach area.  They are encouraging anyone to stop by and ask about their equipment and the various modes of activity.  The best time to stop by is Saturday from 1:00 to 8:00 pm.

The local group will be making voice contacts, CW or Morse code contacts, and even digital contacts.

In emergency situations, when there is no commercial power and no phone or cell phone signals, amateur radio operators can make contact with others, making emergency communications possible.
