The resurfacing of Washington Street through Chillicothe is nearly complete. MoDOT Area Engineer James Gillespie says they are still working on the pavement markings.
Clear marking of parking and better turn lanes.
Gillespie says there had been areas where turning vehicles would cause traffic to stop and wait. He says that to make the changes, they consider several factors.
Geometry of the streets and the current requirements given the space available.
In the area between Clay Street and Third Street, MoDOT added a center turn lane. He says while the lanes and parking may be a bit narrower, they still meet the state’s requirements.
Weather has played a part in completing the work, as the painting requires dry pavement.
