Chambers Selected NASA Ambassador

The Chillicothe School District’s gifted education instructor, Sophie Chambers, has been chosen to serve as a NASA Solar System Ambassador.

 

Over her career, she has earned recognition as Chillicothe’s Teacher of the Year, a Midwest Education Technology Conference Spotlight Educator, and even served as a Fulbright Teacher for Global Classrooms.

 

She says she has been interested in NASA and space for a long time.

Chambers has taught in Chillicothe for 15 years, working with students from kindergarten through eighth grade. She is passionate about helping both struggling learners and high achievers discover their potential.

Chambers is one of just ten Missourians to be selected in the program’s 30-year history. In this role, Chambers will help share NASA’s projects and discoveries with learners of all ages across north Missouri.

District leaders say they are excited to see the unique programs and opportunities she will bring to students and families through this partnership with NASA.

 

The next NASA for kids program will be held at the the Lillian DesMarias Youth Library in Chillicothe on Tuesday, September 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Chambers says the program is free of charge and she encourages parents to bring their children for fun activities and to find out more about available educational resources.
