Chillicothe Fire Fighters responded to a report of a grass fire Monday afternoon. The call for the fire at 7094 LIV 533 came in about 1:40 and the fire crew arrived in about 15 minutes.
The caller stated that someone has lit a field on fire next to their property, the fire is about to reach their timberline. Fire Fighters arrived to find a ditch area and part of a grass field on fire. The report states the fire had started from a neighbor burning brush and it caught the leaves and grass on fire in the ditch. It then got in the fence row and the open grass field.
Firefighters used backpack blowers and their UTV with water to extinguish the fire.
Chillicothe firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
Chillicothe Fire Fighters responded to an alarm at the Strand Hotel Monday night. The call came in about 10:10 pm and the fire department arrived a few minutes later. The alarm panel showed trouble in apartment 505. They found the resident had been smoking in the apartment and had disconnected the smoke detector. No fire was found. The fire department was on the scene for about six minutes.
