A former Chillicothe resident will be sentenced in August in what is being called a $142 million grain fraud scheme, according to a Missouri News Network Story.
61 year old Randy Constant, a former Chillicothe resident, pleaded guilty in federal court in December to one count of wire fraud. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 16th in a U.S. District Court in Iowa.
Constant agreed to forfeit around $128 million in proceeds from the scheme that allegedly included falsely telling customer the grain he sold was grown on certified organic fields in two states.
Three Nebraska farmers who also pleaded guilty will be sentenced also on August 16th in Iowa.
Constant faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up up to $250,000 dollars.
