Football Legend Bob Fairchild Dies

Former Chillicothe High School Football Coach Bob Fairchild passed away Saturday at the age of 87. Fairchild was a 1950 graduate of Chillicothe High School, and was Head Football Coach for the Hornets from 1963 through 1987, wining 287 games for Chillicothe. His final record for all his football coaching stops are 307 wins, 79 losses and 5 ties.
At Chillicothe, Fairchild led the Hornets to seven state championship appearances, winning five state titles. His teams had 15 play off appearances and 19 conference championships.
While best known for Football, Fairchild started three other programs as head coach. He was Wrestling coach for the first two years when the program reappeared in 1966-67. He was the first Boys Tennis coach for Chillicothe from 1971-1974 and was the first Girls Tennis Coach in 1972-73 when it was still a spring sport.
Services are November 2nd at 2:00pm at Chillicothe United Methodist Church.
