The Chillicothe Police Department needs two additional officers. Chillicothe City Administrator Darin Chappell told that to the Chillicothe City Council on Monday in the workshop session. The department currently has 14 officers, a detective, the assistant chief and the chief for a total of 17 full-time officers. They also have the School Resource Officer and a part-time officer. Chappell says for the size of the community and the volume of calls, the department is understaffed and it becomes more apparent when there are officers out on vacation or medical leave. No formal request was made to ad two officers, but Chappell told the council it would be coming soon. The council seemed to be receptive to adding additional personnel.
