The paperwork was finalized Monday and the Central School Building and property now belong to Zabka Properties, who plan to turn the building into apartments.  The sale of the property began 2 years ago when the district built the new Chillicothe Elementary School and moved classes from the central school building.

After completing the paperwork for the sale, Superintendent Dan Wiebers commented,  “This really is a win for the Chillicothe R-II School District and the community of Chillicothe.”  He explained that Zabka Properties, LLC. has plans to renovate the building to create market-rate apartments, which are needed in the community. Wiebers also said, the District no longer needs to pay for utilities to the building or spend taxpayer money to demolish it, which would have been a costly endeavor.

The final sale price on the property was $31,500.  Wiebers says he doesn’t expect any future problems with the sale.

Zabka doesn’t anticipate any problems.
