The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Basketball team held off a determined Brookfield squad to win 69-54 and advance to the District Championship game on Saturday.
Chillicothe built a 17 point lead in the second quarter, only to have Brookfield close the game to three points in the third. Chillicothe responded with a 12 point lead after three and hit 18 of 22 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Hornets coach Tim Cool said he expected a tough game.
Chillicothe Senior C. J. Pfaff hit his 1,000th career point in the game, on a third quarter free throw.
Westley Brandsgaard led Chillicothe with 30 points, Pfaff had 19, Bradley Riley with 10, Hayden Simmer and Mason Baxter each had five points to wrap up the scoring.
Brookfield was led by Cooper Cisna with 25 points.
Chillicothe hosts Richmond at 6:45 Saturday night for the district championship, Richmond beat Higginsville 53-41 in the other semi-final game.
