Heavy rains this week across the northwest part of Missouri have caused the Grand River to rise. For the most part, the river has stayed below flood stage, but flooding is occurring on portions of the lower Grand River.
Moderate flooding is reported on the Grand River at Sumner. Flood stage at Sumner is 26 feet. The river was at 30.36 feet at 6:00 am and is expected to crest at 31.6 feet by 7:00 pm today. Flooding on the Grand River at Sumner is expected to last into Sunday morning.
At Brunswick, the Grand River is expected to rise above flood stage of 19 feet Saturday morning, A crest of 19.4 feet is expected Saturday evening, and fall back below flood stage Sunday morning. The latest reading at Brunswick was 15.95 feet.
At Chillicothe, the river is leveling out at 22.95 feet and is not expected to reach flood stage of 24 feet.
