The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 65 calls for service Monday, including several calls for open burning.
7:35 am, Officers responded to a two-vehicle non-injury accident at Washington St and Business 36. One of the drivers was issued a citation for failure to yield.
11:21 am, Officers checking a report of illegal burn in the 300 block of Hillcrest Avenue. Officers contacted the resident and advised them of the complaint and the violation of the ordinance. The fire was extinguished.
12:18 pm, Report of unattended fire in the 300 block of Tenth Street. Fire Department notified and extinguished the fire.
1:55 pm, Officers were requested by another agency to contact a resident in the 400 block of Calhoun Street. They were unable to make contact.
2:27 pm, A 51-year-old Breckenridge resident was arrested for stealing from the 1000 block of South Graves Street.
3:50 pm, Officers out in the 300 block of Tenth Street on a reported illegal burn. Subjects were contacted and advised that the fire was too close to a structure. The fire was extinguished.
4:36 pm, Report of illegal burn in the 800 block of Walnut Street. Fire too close to structure. The fire was extinguished and the resident advised of the ordinance.
4:43 pm, Officers responded to 2700 block of N. Washington Street, for a vehicle leaving the scene of a crash. A driver had attempted to park in a parking stall and sideswiped another vehicle on the passenger side. The driver was identified and later in an interview admitted to colliding with the other vehicle. A citation was issued.
7:25 pm, Call of open burning in the 300 block of Tenth Street, too close to structure. Officers checked and found no fire, only smoldering debris from a previous fire. No report.
