Following an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in Wheeling on March 19th, conducted by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney, Adam Warren announced there will be no charges against the officer. The statement by the prosecuting attorney reads:
“After reviewing the reports, scene photographs, video and other evidence gathered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, I have no doubt that the use of force by K-9 Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, March 19, 2020, was lawful and justified. No charges will be forthcoming for the Deputy.”
Sheriff Steve Cox says Deputy Leadbetter is expected to return to duty as scheduled this Friday.
