Portions of the Chillicothe City Parks have been closed by the Executive Order of the Mayor. The order states:
Due to the concerns surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and in line with City, County, State, and Federal guidelines and recommendations, the following facilities within the Chillicothe Parks System will close effective immediately to public use until further notice:
- Playgrounds/Fitness Equipment
- Shelter Houses
- Restrooms
The decision was made carefully after input from the public, city officials, law enforcement as well as other communities in similar circumstances.
Parks Director Josh Norris says they are encouraging families to get outside, take in fresh air and sunshine and ad physical activity. He says the walking trails and other parts of the parks will remain open at this time. He says they are still asking you to adhere to the social distancing guidelines.
