The USDA reminds landowners that the annual Conservation Stewardship Program or CSP has begun the sign-up period.
The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), provides technical and financial assistance for farmers and ranchers looking to implement enhanced conservation practices on their operations. They have a wide variety of conservation practices to choose from, including cover crops, resource-conserving crop rotation, grazing management, and conservation buffers. The producers can work with their local technicians to build a contract that works best for them. CSP contracts are five years in length.
The local deadline for the CSP is June 1st. If you have questions or need help with applying, contact the Chillicothe NRCS office at 660-646-6220.
