A call from a woman reporting she was held, against her will, resulted in the arrest of a Moorseville man. On August 14th, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the 15000 block of LIV-413. Sheriff Steve Cox says the investigation showed the woman and a relative wanted to leave the location and the suspect did not want to drive them to where they wanted to go. The officers learned the suspect, 61-year-old Duane Eugene Hall of Mooresville, was a convicted felon and has 2 firearms in the home. The report states he denied having any modern firearms and that he does own a black powder weapon which he can legally possess.
The officers also found he allegedly removed a modern rifle from the home and placed it in a hidden location away from the house prior to law enforcement arriving. That rifle was later found by troopers. Matching ammunition was also located in the home.
The officers also found the firearms were not involved in the argument and the woman was not actually being held against her will.
Deputies arrested Duane Eugene Hall for alleged Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Hall was taken to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail and later charged in Livingston County Court. He was later released on bond.
