The Chillicothe Hornets scored in the first half but couldn’t slow down Marshall in the second half and lost to the Owls 21-7.
Chillicothe drove to the four-yard line on their opening drive but fumbled the ball on a 2nd and goal.
The Hornets were inside the 20 on their next drive but failed on a 4th down conversion.
Chillicothe did find the end zone on a drive that started after Marshall failed on a 4th down on their own 32-yard line. The Hornets took over and drove the 32 yards in nine plays to score on a one-yard run Gage Leamer run. The extra point was good for a 7-0 lead that held up until the third quarter.
Marshal scored on a 14-yard run with just under 4:00 left in the third. They scored again on a 2 yard run.
Chillicothe had one more scoring opportunity on a field goal, but wasn’t able to kick the ball due to a bad snap.
Marshall’s final score came on a 3-yard touchdown for the 21-7 Owls win.
