The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team opened their season with a doubleheader loss Saturday at St Joseph Central. The Lady Indians won the first game 10-2 and the second game 12-2.
Chillicothe Coach Lee Rucker said St Joseph Central is “really solid defensively and they were very disciplined hitters”.
In game one, Chillicothe started out with a 2-0 lead, but that would be the highlight of the game for them.
Sophia Luetticke led the team with two singles, Hallie Rucker had a double, with Kirsten Dunn, Kinlei Boley, Brooke Horton and Bre Pithan each had singles.
In the second game, Central jumped out to a two run lead early and never let up, picking up 16 hits off two Lady Hornet pitchers.
For Chillicothe Hope Helton had two singles and one each for Luetticke, Dunn, Boley and Rucker.
Coach Rucker said it was “good to play against a stronger opponent right away to see what things we need to work on, moving forward.”
