CHS Softball Thumps Lawson 16-3

The Chillicothe Softball bats were on fire and the pitching was sound in a convincing 16-3 Lady Hornets win at Lawson.
Chillicothe started hot in the first inning with three consecutive hits for their first two runs. It was part of a four-run first inning, which was followed by a five-run second inning.
Meanwhile Kinlei Boley had back-to-back 1-2-3 innings to keep Lawson off the bases. Chillicothe had three runs in the third and three more in the fourth for a 15-0 lead.
Lawson finally scored three in the bottom of the fourth.
Chillicothe scored one more in the fifth to win by the 10-run “mercy rule”.
Boley pitched the entire five innings, allowing three unearned runs off two hits with five strike outs and one walk.
At the plate, Chillicothe had 19 hits including two doubles and two singles for Sophia Luetticke, four singles each for Hope Helton and Kinlei Boley, and one single each for Brooke Horton, Mika Hibner, Kirsten Dunn, Jolie Bonderer, Mollie Ellis, Dawsyn Lightner and Bre Pithan.
Chillicothe Coach Lee Rucker said the Lady Hornets did a better job of hitting with runners in scoring position and were more selective at the plate. He said, as a result the were able to put better swings on the ball.
