The Chillicothe Girls Softball team made quick work of St Joseph Bishop LeBlond with a 14-0 win in five innings. The Lady Hornets are 6-0 in MEC play and have clinched no worse that a share of the conference title, with one MEC game left.
Chillicothe scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second and the fourth innings, then ended the game with eight runs in the fifth inning to win by softball’s “Mercy Rule”.
At the plate Kinlei Boley had two doubles and a single, Sophia Luetticke with three singles, Mika Hibner with a triple and single, Bre Pithan with a double and single, Hope Helton with a double, Brooke Horton with two singles, and one single each for Kirsten Dunn, Mollie Ellis and Halle Rucker.
Kinlei Boley pitched the first three innings with Halle Rucker pitching the final two innings. The two combined to pitch the shut out, allowed just two hits and five strike outs.
Coach Lee Rucker says it’s exciting to be in a position to win the MEC outright for the first time since 2011, if they can win Friday afternoon at Benton.
