For just the third time in program history and the first time since 1987 the Chillicothe Lady Hornets Cross Country team has qualified for the State Championships.
Chillicothe finished in second place behind team champion St Pius X on Saturday. Pius had 18 points and Chillicothe had 41 points.
For Chillicothe Aliyah Briner was 8th overall, Kadence Shipers 11th, Juliann Gabrielson 12th and Kaylynn Cranmer 22nd overall.
On the Boys side Chillicothe finished in 7th place. Maryville won the team event with 34 points.
For Chillicothe Hayden Simmer finished 11th and qualified individually for the State Championship.
Other Chillicothe finishers were Austin Lyford in 22nd, Clayton Savage in 40th, Kade Simmer 41st and Gavin Funk was 42nd.
Coach Dickson said “very gusty conditions made the races tough, but they all completed and fought with all their heart.”
