Livingston County students in grades K-12 will have a new wellness tool. It is called – the Wellness in Schools (WinS) student health program. The Hedrick Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors is partnering with the area schools including the Chillicothe, Chula, Southwest and Tina-Avalon school districts, to help provide health care to under- or un-insured students who live in Livingston County.
School nurses and/or administrators will make referrals for students. The WinS program is also working in partnership with local pharmacies to provide any needed medications that arise from these appointments.
There will be no cost to the student or their family or the school districts for the program.
The program’s goals include assisting students and families with their health care needs, as well as helping to decrease school absences.
