Chillicothe’s Brock Miller won his weight class and the Hornets Wrestling Varsity team finished 5th out of 16 teams in the Pleasant Hill Tournament.
Miller won the 182 pound division championship with five pins, all in the First Period and all but one in less than a minute.
Lane McCoy took 2nd at 103 with a 4-1 record with four pins.
Sheldon Rader finished 3rd at 120 with a 3-2 record.
Aidan Zimmerman finished 4th at 132 with a 2-3 record.
Brody Cairns was 4th at 160 with a 3-2 record.
Lucas Reynolds was 4th at 195 with a 2-3 record.
Christian Peniston was 4th at 285 with a 2-3 record.
Joel Edwards was 5th at 113 with a 1-4 record.
Justin Pyle was 7th at 138 with a 2-3 record.
Cayden Larson was 7th at 152 with a 2-3 record.
Dawson Sutton was 7th at 170 with a 2-3 record.
Cesar Mares was 8th at 145 with a 1-4 record.
Two Hornet Wrestlers were used as a “Junior Varsity” team, finishing in 13th place.
Dylan Ulmer was 6th place at 285 with a 2-3 record.
Gavin Funk was 9th place at 132 with a 1-4 record.
Coach Chad Smith said he was “excited how a group of 10 freshmen and sophomores came into a really tough tournament and performed the way they did.” He said the five freshmen all scored points for the team.
He called Sophomore Brock Miller’s championship as dominant of any regular season tournament performance he has seen in a while.
