Livingston County officials are switching to a new text and phone alert system. Chillicothe Fire Fighter/Paramedic Nathan Zabka says CODE RED is available for sign-up now.
That means if a weather warning is issued for the areas near Poosey Conservation Area and you are in Chillicothe you would not receive the alert unless you selected a larger area or both are part of the path of a storm.
Zabka says CODE RED only sends out the warnings for weather, not watches.
Fire Chief Eric Reeter says those that are currently signed up for Text Caster will be notified next week.
Reeter says you can do that now and register for the CODE RED service. That number to text is 99411 and send the message “LIVALERT.”
