The Chillicothe Lady Hornets poured on the gas in the second half to come from behind and beat Kirksville on the road 48 to 39.
Chillicothe trailed by 6 at halftime but Coach Darren Smith thought his Lady Hornets showed a lot of maturity in the second half.
Chillicothe went on an 18-0 run in the third and fourth quarters to go from trailing by four to leading by 14.
Kirksville answered with a modest 7-0 run but the Lady sank free throws to keep Kirksville at bay.
Chillicothe was led by Essie Hicks with 20 points, Jolie Bonderer with 16, Jessica Reeter with six, Ellie Barnett with three, Selby Miller with two, Lucy Reeter with one and playing time for Brooke Horton.
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity girls beat Kirksville 27 to 25. The JV girls were led by Kinlei Boley with eight, Bre Pithan with six, Kayanna Cranmer and Izzie Montgomery each with four, Cali Burkhardt with three and Delanie Kieffer with 2.
