The Girls Basketball season came to an end Tuesday night at St Joseph Benton in the district semifinal game. Chillicothe played well in the first quarter, with three straight treys to lead 11 to 3.
Unfortunately, Benton buckled down on defense and held Chillicothe to just 15 points the rest of the game. The lady Cardinals won 41 to 26.
Lady Hornets Coach Darren Smith talked about the team’s shooting woes.
Chillicothe was led by eight points for Jessica Reeter, seven for Essie Hicks, six for Jolie Bonderer, three for Selby Miller and two for Brook Horton. Also receiving playing time were Clara Leamer, Ellie Barnett, Sophia Luetticke, Lucy Reeter, Kinlei Boley, Cali Burkhardt and Izzie Montgomery.
Chillicothe Lady Hornets end the season at 17-8 and will graduate one Senior player.
Benton advances to the championship game at Maryville, which beat Savannah 60 to 42 in the other semifinal game.
