The Chillicothe Hornets basketball season came to an end with a 63 to 44 loss at Richmond in the District semifinal game. Chillicothe trailed by just five points at halftime, but couldn’t keep pace with Richmond in the second half.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool said his team played hard and played well.
Chillicothe was led by Griff Bonderer with 19 points, Hayden Simmer with 16, James Mathew and Wyatt Brandsgaard with four each, Eli Cross with one and playing time for Landon Winder, Cayden Potter and Mason Baxter.
Richmond was led by a 6’8″ Sophomore with 19 points.
This was the last game for three Chillicothe Seniors: Hayden Simmer, Mason Baxter and Eli Cross.
Chillicothe ends the season at 15-10 and Richmond improves to 21-3.
The Spartans will host Benton at 6:00pm Friday for the district title. Benton beat Maryville 53 to 48.
