The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Wrestling team brought home two 6th place medals from the MSHSAA Class 2 State Tournament, and a 22nd place team finish out of 44 teams.
113lb Sheldon Rader finished in 6th place. He won his first match 11-0, lost his second match to the eventual state champion from Pleasant Hill by pin, then won two consolation bracket matches by pin before losing 6 to 4 in “Sudden Victory”.
182lb Brock Miller also finished in 6th place. He won his first match by pin, lost his second by pin to the eventual state champion from Monett, then won in the consolation bracket 9 to 5 and by pin, before losing by pin in 4:22 to a Pleasant Hill wrestler.
103lb Lane McCoy did not place. He lost his first match 9-4, had a bye and lost to a Savannah wrestler 9-0.
152lb Brody Carins did not place. He lost his first mach 12-4, had a bye and lost 9-0.
The Chillicothe team finished with 21 team points, good for 22nd out of 44 teams in Class 2.
The Midland Empire Conference brought home several medals but none of them were gold.
Cameron was 6th with a first place, 3 second places and 2 sixth place medals
Lafayette was 18th with a second place medal winner.
Savannah was 21st with a fourth and a sixth place.
Benton was 26th with a fourth place.
Maryville was 30th with a fourth place.
St Pius was 10th in Wednesday’s Class 1 tournament
St Joe Bishop LeBlond does not have a wrestling team.
