Ag Week – Representative Rusty Black

This is National Ag Week, an opportunity for the public to thank those involved in agriculture, providing the food we eat, the fiber for clothes we wear, and in some cases, even the fuel in our vehicles.  Missouri State Representative Rusty Black was an Ag Teacher for many years before retiring and running for office.  Black says Agriculture has changed.

Black offered some interesting statistics that emphasize how farming has changed.

Black also talked about how not all ag-related jobs are in rural areas.

Inputs include many of the chemicals used on the farm for fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides.

The outputs include what happens to the products after they are sold by the farmer and before they reach the consumer as food, fiber, and more.

Those inputs and outputs are part of today’s agriculture.
