The Chillicothe Hornets Track Team has another individual State Champion. Junior Damarcus Kelow captured gold in Discus.
Kelow’s winning throw was 49.59 meters, or 162′ 8″ on his third throw to win the event by more than two meters.
It was the only medal won by Chillicothe in state competition.
Kelow also finished 9th in the shot put with a toss of 47′ 7.25 inches. The 8th place finisher had the same mark, but on his second attempt while Kelow’s was on the third attempt.
Tristan Forck finished 10th in the High Jump, Gavin Funk tied for 11th place in the Pole Vault, Braxten Johnson was 12th in the 110 hurdles, and Rudy Yutzy failed to clear the Pole Vault.
The Boys team finished 28th out of 75 teams.
Chillicothe’s lone female qualifier was Jolie Bonderer who finished 11th in the 1600 meters.
