Chillicothe Fire department was dispatched to a grass fire around Liv 519 and Liv 532. The call came in about 1:05 pm and the brush unit arrived in about 15 minutes to find a brush fire burning just north of a burnt brush pile. The fire crew used approximately 75 gallons of water to extinguish the fire that burned about 1/2 acre
They were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
As the fire crew was returning from the Grass Fire, they noticed a car fire at 1025 Washington Street. They radioed dispatch for an engine to respond. The fire was burning through the firewall and into the car, extending to the interior of the roof. Doors would not unlock, so windows were broken to access the fire.
The driver and passenger were headed to the hospital at the time of the fire and a bystander took them to the hospital.
The fire crew was on the scene for about 10 minutes.
