The Ryan Lane Bridge, east of the Chillicothe Post Office, will be removed at the expense of the railroad. City Administrator Darin Chappell says the Ryan Lane Bridge has been closed since an accident in May of 2019 and the City has maintained the bridge belongs to the railroad it crosses, but the railroad had denied ownership until recently.
Chappell told the Council Monday night that the railroad wants the bridge removed and had wanted it removed at the city’s expense.
He says they also wanted to talk about a new crossing at that location.
No timeline has been set for the demolition and Chappell says it will take time for the engineering for a grade crossing that would require lowering the road to the level of the railroad.
