A home east of Chillicothe was destroyed by fire Thursday evening. Chillicothe Fire Department responded to the call that came in at 5:33 and arrived on the scene at 16758 LIV 230 in 8 minutes to find everyone was out of the house and there was fire and heavy smoke was coming from the center front of the house and roof. Mutual Aid was requested from Chula and Wheeling and Chillicothe brought out a second pumper truck as they had problems with the first. Firefighters used a defensive attack on the fire, to keep it from spreading to any other buildings on the property. The report states 36,000 gallons of water was shuttled to the scene and the fire crews were on the scene for nearly 4 hours. The house was a total loss.
